C.C. THE DESIGNER
I began designing swimsuits in 1991 in Canada. I brought my business to Florida in 1993 where I’ve been helping women of all shapes, sizes and with medical needs ever since. I personally take great pride in knowing the swimsuits I create will look flattering and will compliment you and your style. You will feel confident, comfortable and very happy.
With 20 years experience in the fashion industry, I can relate to your concerns about finding a suit that will actually fit and is YOU. I can put you at ease and work with you so we can create a design that will flatter your best attributes and hide the ones you aren’t so crazy about.
I look forward to working with you. Have no fear, CC is here.

SWIMWEAR THAT SUITS YOU - AND ONLY YOU
by STACI STURROCK Palm Beach Post Fashion Editor
At Custom Swimwear, owner C.C. Gagnon whips up made-to-measure suits for all-too-human figures.
"Manufacturers of swimwear only think of the perfect body," he says. "If you are anything different, you have to settle."
Even if you find a perfect fit, you might settle for a color or pattern not totally to your liking. C.C.
addresses that, too. If an image can be scanned into a computer or e-mailed to info@customswimwear.com as a JPEG, it can be put on a suit.
Using a specialized computer program and a machine that prints patterns directly onto nylon/Lycra, Custom Swimwear can create a suit emblazoned with a photo from your last family reunion; a pattern made to match your favorite tattoo; a map of your hometown; or even a copy of your driver license (never be carded again!).
One patriotic family had C.C. create 12 American flag suits in sizes infant to grandparent; other clans dress their children in identical swimwear.
The key to a good fit is the series of six measurements that C.C. enters into his computer. "We do not know what a size 12 is. Manufacturers don't know what a size 12 is. But inches don't lie," he says. "All we're doing is listening to what your body tells us to do."
Female customers also have purchased similar suits with different amounts of coverage, "one for him and one for when his mother comes over."
Twenty percent of Custom Swimwear's business is medical in nature - covering burn scars, hiding a colostomy bag, carrying an insulin pump or pocketing a prosthetic breast. The company also has made suits for swimmers weighing up to 600 pounds and for women who require Double M bras.
Prices for most suits run between $60 and $120, and turnaround is typically one or two weeks.

How to shop for a swimsuit without losing your dignity
Two years ago, I wrote about a custom swimsuit shop in Riviera Beach that caters to mature women – with grown-up bodies.
I spent a morning visiting with satisfied clients and learned about the medical issues, such as insulin pumps, mastectomies or pacemaker scars, that can make it tough for older women to find the perfect swimsuit. (As if it’s not hard enough to find a decent suit without factors like that.)
I was won over by owner Lorne “C.C.” Gagnon’s pragmatic attitude and abundance of good cheer. As he bustled around the shop, juggling public relations with his customers while giving me the basics on patterns, measurements and more, I marveled at his enthusiasm and salesmanship.
However, I spent zero dollars in C.C.’s store. A few days before, I bought two swimsuits at the mall. It had been a grueling expedition, but a necessary one, and I’d approached it as a chore. So, watching the women in C.C.’s shop as they twirled before the mirror, unleashing delighted squeals at the surprising ways he was able to accent their best features and downplay others, I promised myself my next suit would come from C.C.
And so it did. I recently spent a happy morning with C.C. and walked away with more than enough nylon Lycra to keep me satisfied. The pricing is comparable to malls, but more important, I left feeling good about myself, not defeated and self-conscious. While his seamstress worked away at the machine, C.C. scanned his store for the styles he knew would work best for me.
It didn’t take long. After 20 years of helping women make the most of their shape, he’s got the routine down.
“I’m an engineer,” he said. “I look at the problem. And I think about how to fix it. We work with real women – and every woman is different.”
I intended to custom-order a couple of suits, but after trying them on, I ended up purchasing several ready-made suits from his large inventory. (A few tweaks and strap adjustments made them perfect for me.)
Whatever your choice, C.C.’s salesmanship never flags. I got such a good deal on interchangeable tops and bottoms that, before I knew it, I spent what I saved on suits by custom ordering several bandeau-top sundresses in the cutest, most summery patterns you can imagine.
Let’s face it, it's worth it!!!
Looking For A Better-Fitting Bathing Suit? Try Florida Custom Swimwear

For designer C.C. Gagnon, designing a swimsuit is not just about the suit — it is about the woman or man who wears it.
C.C. is the owner of Florida Custom Swimwear, a business that has been designing and producing custom swimsuits for over 20 years. C.C. has had a store at the Ocean Mall on Singer Island and another at the Mall at Wellington Green, as well as an online store.
“Our customers are the designers,” C.C. “Each individual woman, their body is going to make the design. We are listening to what your body is telling us to do.”
Unlike other stores selling swimwear, Florida Custom Swimwear is a concept where “no suit is the same.” With over 1,000 patterns and 300 styles to choose from, customers can also supply a picture or personal design on which to decorate the fabric.
According to C.C., Florida Custom Swimwear has created more than 100,000 suits for over 53,200 people. “Bring me your old suit, and I will make one that is the same pattern or style,” he said. “It’s a great place to start.”
A custom swimsuit can cover as little or as much of the body as the customer wishes. Florida Custom Swimwear makes swimsuits for every occasion and any body type. “We have conquered making it fit,” Gagnon said.
Customers can have either a one or two-piece swimsuit, as well as their accessories. Each suit is made of nylon Lycra spandex and they use the highest quality elastic which is treated for chlorine which extends the life of the suit. The swimsuits should be hand-washed after each wearing, and look best if laid out to dry, not put in a dryer.
A suit can be made anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks
Swimsuits start at $80, or one half of a two-piece for $40, and go up from there depending on the design.
Florida Custom Swimwear is proud to be making suits for people with medical needs
for example, insulin pumps, colostomy bags, Mastectomy, and other medical issues. These customers would need custom-designed swimsuits,” he said. “We cater to helping people with problems. They do not need to feel restricted. It’s a swimsuit designed to fit you, not that you have to fit into.”
Florida Custom Swimsuits work with women who have long torsos and have difficulty finding suits that fit. They can make tops of swimsuits in cup sizes ranging from AA to MM, as well as bottoms for any size body.
Orders come from all over, including Alaska, Japan, England, Denmark, etc.
Men’s suits are available in five styles — American, Athletic, Posing, String Pouch and Trunks.
In addition, Florida Custom Swimwear also designs promotional suits for restaurants, bands, events, hotels and more. The Hard Rock Café, Marriott hotels, Crowne Plaza resort hotels, the Blue Martini restaurant in City Place and the Miami Seaquarium are among the businesses that have commissioned Florida Custom Swimwear to design uniform swimsuits or promotional products. C.C. has also done mother-daughter matching suits and even swimsuits for dogs.
Gagnon said he enjoys making swimsuits for people because each is different, and it never gets old. “I want you to be able to bend over and grab your cocktail without having to adjust your suit before you stand back up,” he said.
Gagnon plans to expand his business to franchises over the next year. “It’s an ideal store for a woman with a flair for fashion,” he noted.
Many times a favorite swimsuit can be repaired if the elastic is stretched out.
